I am ready for a single-payer system of health care. I disagree with having my health care paid by my employer, whose interests may (do!) differ significantly from mine. The market forces don't actually work at the individual level. There aren't sufficient incentives in the short term to influence individuals to change long term behaviors ( Read more... )

You are so right. Dad and I have what we consider to be the best of health plans - and guess what? It is run for government employees - which we are grateful to have been!Particularly nowk when we wilol be going to anew area, we are grateful to have complete chices as to doctors, tests, etc.

And if one more person says they don't want the government choosing their doctor for them, I will smack them up the side of the head with the list of physicians covered by my insurance company. If I see anyone else the co-pay quadruples. Mara
