I had a co-worker ask me if I could make welding caps for her boyfriend.  I had no idea what she was talking about.  So, she brought me in a manky one that he had been using.  I first tried making a pattern by tracing the hat that she had given me... No go, even after much adjustments.  I found a Simplicity pattern for winter hats, and it worked
