I don't usually post anything about Moffat's Doctor Who, because I know some people on my f-list like his work, and I wouldn't want them to think my dislike of Moffat translated to a dislike of them and their personal tastes. BUT I have so much RAGE for this promo picture:

We just need an eagle bursting out of an American flag and a car chase to complete this image.
I don't have as much of a history with Doctor Who since I only started from the Christopher Eccleston series, and I am mostly just looking for entertainment for entertainment's sake when it comes to the series, but this is a bit much even for me. Yikes!

There are a lot of American shows that I already watch that feature the explosions and whatnot. One of the things I loved about Doctor Who was how different it was from anything on American television, and now here it is acting like it belongs on CBS, not BBC. pfft

As for the Daleks, we all knew that was coming. They've been in every series since the beginning, but what's up with the explosions? Have they all become huge land mines or what.
Sad, Moffat, sad. I'm not even a feminist, but I find this picture extremely offensive and insulting to every female companion the Doctor has ever had.

Ugh, yeah, the trailer was like some Hollywood movie type, all BIG. SPECTACLE. THE MORE THE MERRIER. SCALE MATTERS. Meh.

The thing that is really weird to me is that I know the premiere has Daleks in it, but the Ponds don't have their oh-so-emotional, we-swear-it-will-make-you-weep, actual-final-for-real-this-time departure until midway through the season. So if this picture corresponds to the premiere, then... we already know Amy's fine. Unless the premiere has Daleks and then the mid-season finale also has Daleks or something, this promo picture is clearly not supposed to make us worry about Amy. Which means it's just there to be a ~dramatic picture~ of the Doctor carrying an unconscious Amy.
I wouldn't want to go back to the days of RTD, but I'm definitely ready to move past the days of Moffat. MARK GATISS, WE NEED YOU TO STAGE A COUP.
That said, I'm not sure that this is entirely an attempt to lure in more American viewers; after RTD did his bigger and BIGGER and ( ... )

I didn't even think of that! Good grief.
I don't believe that RTD was above reproach (Aliens of London still makes me cringe). I just know that in the midst of those moments of OMG! The Earth/Universe/Reality is in peril, there were also moments of tenderness and great character growth. Something that I find lacking in Moffat's explosive Who.
