Lots of stuff since before the BLB. Long story short: LS pwnage, as expected. Or rather, as needed for the wrath of Grant not to descend upon the team at large. Not something I need to be around for.
Aside from that, just a lot of work happening. I am rapidly beginning to hate all of physics, not just the parts that are currently afflicting me, ( Read more... )

:D

You are more than welcome to escape the "living at home for the summer" stuff by jetting up here to NH. My dad loves you, I think he thinks you are the best thing to happen to me since I skipped a grade. (He's not generally a big fan of most of my friends, who are apparently all "bad influences" on me...)

The impossiball is... well... impossiball. It is spherical multicolored DEATH.

I still can't believe 5 kids from your high school got into MIT. 7 people from THE ENTIRE STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE got in this year. Freaking ridiculous.

"I think we've decided to be alter egos... It is SO strange." - only if the antecedent to 'it' is 'Allison'... because I am a strange quark, god damn it, and I am fucking proud of that.

Oh, and as for the same, same, different thing - my brother and I are opposites, opposites, opposites, and then randomly the same on something. So maybe you and my brother are more alter egos, and I just happen to be the missing link. =P

...It being the weird connection things. But you are strange. There's no denying that. We're all strange at MIT.

Fine, you can be queen of the mountain if you wish.

Certain person who was denied said wish got into CMU, so things are more calm I think right now.

I know it's nigh-impossible, but try not to stress too much over DOE. What will happen will happen.

You're more than welcome to come visit, we're having a practice starting at 7:30AM on Thursday. I think it'd cheer everyone up to see you, it's been a little depressing as of late (and considering how much I used to look forward to practice, that's saying something.)

Seems to be a theme. He's the third person I've heard of who got rejected from MIT and then went to CMU.
Or maybe it's a function of the kids. Who knows. Glad to hear that things are calmer.
I'll see if I can haul my sorry behind out of bed in time for practice. You do know that's an absolutely *obscene* time to be awake, right? As in, the equivalent of this to college time is about 4 in the morning....
Anyway, glad to hear that things aren't as crazy as my mind says they should be. Or that you're dealing with them better than I am.

Are the other two you've heard of (as in, other than the one that you've heard of through me) as hardcore jackass Republicans as he-who-shall-not-be-named?

7:30 in the morning? No, I think that's a pretty obscene time needing very little translation; "7:30 in the morning" in college time is along the lines of "7 fucking 30 in the fucking morning". Also known as "definitely bedtime regardless of problem sets' state of completeness because the sun is in my goddamn eyes".

Yeah, I've noticed that... very strange. But I wouldn't peg him as the same type of person as that other person last year to whom the same thing happened.

I know it's an obscene time. I've been getting up at 11 the past two days. It's going to be pain.

Five from L-S? That's pretty awesome.

Good luck with 8.02t. I had a really rough time with it too; they're clearly still trying to figure out how to teach it in TEAL which is sort of grossly unfair to everyone who has to take it in the meantime. :/

UROP-ing is a fantastic way to spend the summer -- this place is really awesome then -- the pay isn't that great, but it's fun especially if people you know are around too. Not sure how hard it is to find one if you're not the code-monkey type, though, but worth a try...

I can clean test tubes! Or do other menial tasks. "labwork bitchery" (as Pia would say) is fine with me. Taking a course at the same time would be ideal, provided I can find one I need at a convenient time.

Hey Sarah,
A lot has happened since you left, but don't get too worried over it...things are getting resolved to a degree (but not in the way any of us expected). Hope you can come to practice tomorrow!

I just discovered Chris is temped on 4E for CPW -- he's with one of our this-year's-frosh (who is quite a character.) We're going to be drowning in prefrosh -- I think at least fifteen people on my hall have them -- it'll be great -- do you know where any of the rest of the L-S gang is temped?

No, I don't...this is the first I've heard of where they are. I'll ask them where they are. I know Anna wanted to be on campus in a dorm, as opposed to a fsilg, and I have a sneaking suspicion that they did that for her.
Drowning in prefrosh? 15 on one hall? I think there are only 2 or 3 per entry here. Wow. Well, have fun with that.

There are ~43 people on 4e, so it works out to about one in three of us has a prefrosh. We're collectively rocking CPW's socks off, whee!

The hall should just collectively adopt them, if they don't look like they'd be traumatized by that. I'm sharing/co-hosting/half stealing a prefrosh with someone from B entry. We're not sure if the double host is going to scare her more or not.
