The surgery is to get my tonsils out. I'll be SO GLAD to get these little bastards OUT of me. They are driving me nuts. That's on the 27th.
The wedding is my friend Crystal's. It's in Chicago and I'll be gone the 23-25. So pretty much the whole end of October I'll be gone or laid up. I hope to only take a week off for the surgery. Two weeks, they said. TWO?!
I'm not looking forward to the pain meds or the eating ice-cream. Knowing my stomach it will be SICK if I do. So I've got to eat something real and suck it up. Maybe I can liquefy a steak... Or some soup.
That sounded like one hellacious trip :( At least they know you're determined! "Chef Jeff"? :D
Good luck with that, and with the tonsils. I still have mine, and I had some awful infections in them the last couple of years. (Not often enough to have them taken out, and it's better than pneumonia or something, but blecchh.) If you can't do ice cream, try sucking on ice chips, and, if it's not too painful, try swallowing one and holding it against the area for a while before it goes down. That helped me when they were really bad.
