No it isn't, it's a very useful post confirming what we concluded at 12.30 last night, to whit that S taking an IT contracting job in London for six months and coming home at weekends really wouldn't be good for any of us even for loads of cash.

My M is leaving for four days (conference in Chicago) and I am going to be a little stressed, but I think it will be OK, because I dealt with 2 weeks of no-M in California last spring and survived! You will, too!

Thanks! And no, that London commute doesn't sound livable. I'm sure that children are able to adapt to the absence of one parent, once it has become part of their routine. But it would be unbelievably hard on you - and you have three to look after as opposed to my one!

I want you to know that when you are flying solo as a parent, it is perfectly acceptable (every so often) to sit on the couch and let the house be messy and eat crackers and applesauce for dinner because you can't be arsed to cook.

Do the best you can, and hug M hard when he gets home. It will be all right.
