two sides (twist and then collide) l katherine/stefan cassiehayes March 30 2011, 02:46:31 UTC
She compels Stefan; she does not compel Damon - this is a conscious decision, not a mere necessity.

Damon is eager to please, eager to love, eager to be everything, and when her eyes darken and her fangs slide out for the first time in front of him, his eyes show wonder as well as fear (maybe even more than fear). It’s as if he had known all along that she must have been something more, but never truly believed it until now, and the idea both amuses and flatters her. He is so careful, tender, his hands gentle on her body even as she is sinking her teeth through his skin. He twitches - tries to still himself, always trying so hard.

Stefan is not his brother. Stefan loves her too, she knows this, takes a certain pride in holding both the Salvatores’ heartstrings in her hands. He treats her as reverently as Damon, but he calls her angel, and when he does something inside her flinches. Would he whisper to her in secluded rooms in that low voice of his, would he stare at her with those wide eyes, as if scarcely believing she could be ( ... )

GAH! You wrote my very favorite kind of Katherine. Everything about this - comparing her feelings for Stefan to what she has with Damon, the way Damon looks at her vampire face and the horror in Stefan's eyes, the hurt she feels bc she knows Stefan can't love all of her without compulsion - is just gorgeous and heartbreaking and makes me absolutely ache for her.

Incredible.

Ahhh, so so glad you liked it :) I love writing 1864-era, there's so much to delve into with Katherine and dem boys, haha. Thank you thank you, and for the wonderful prompt!

I loved this. The prose is beautiful and I completely buy this Katherine, who wanted to believe what Stefan believed of her and would do whatever she could to maintain the illusion <3

Aw, thank you <3 I'm so glad it came off well and realistic and all, I think there's so much there when it comes to how she felt and feels about him, definitely a lot to explore.

Eeeeee thank you! Katherine's such a fascinating character and I love getting in her head, especially when it comes to Stefan and Damon and all that twistedness, so munch tragedy right there among the three of them, aslkdsjdksl

This is what Katherine/Stefan is - absolutely this, and I love the parallels you draw with Damon here, it's all so right and fitting. ♥

Eee thank you, I'm happy you thought I was able to convey it well, and everything with Damon too, that means so much ♥
