Okay here it is, my bona fide comment on this crazy-good fic. Thus it begins.

Jackie’s there, and her legs slide around his waist when she kisses him on the couch and her mouth is warm and kind of sweet and his hands fit over her breasts in a way that makes her arch her back and. Well.

It sure as hell beats anything else there is to do. I LOVE THIS, I love this beginning, because it totally starts out like, yeah, well, whatever, I guess we could just make out, but there's still this implication (It goes something like this) that this is going somewhere else and that's just awesome.

For a split second, it feels like he’s having an out-of-body moment, because how the hell did he ever end up here, where discussing the finer specifics of cosmetics colouring with Jackie Burkhart is actually an option, but she’s staring at him all big doe eyes and dusty lashes, dark curls falling over her shoulders, and he’s got a hand slid just under her silky blouse, fingers splayed on smooth stomach, and-and it’s like, right, well, how was he

“I mean... look, if she’s what you want, man-” He sounds dead serious, that’s the thing. Two seconds ago he was all game-show host flamboyance determined to make fun of Hyde, but now he’s saying if she’s what you want like he could honestly mean it, like maybe it’s true, even though they’re talking about Jackie here, and it’s just ridiculous, but this-it’s out of nowhere, but he thinks of the Eric who said “hey, if you need a place to live,” the Eric who finally manned up for once in his goddamn life to yell at his dad when he thought Hyde was getting kicked out.

So, naturally, Hyde makes sure to roll his eyes again. Swallows. Eric’s hand is still on his shoulder, and it’s all bone, his thumb digging sharp against collarbone, but Hyde doesn’t shrug it off

“Yeah, yeah, Forman.” He elbows him again too, but it’s half-hearted. “Don’t get girly about it.”

Eric just grins. “Nah.” CRYING MYSELF TO SLEEP. Eric going from one second joking to serious with Hyde because he wants him to be happy. Because theirs is such a caring friendship

ALL OF THE TIME. i feel like it also happens with the rest of the gang too, like when random hyde/jackie events are going on, or donna and eric have to give them advice or opinions and stuff and they realize they're treating this like an actual serious relationship and but what even it's JACKIE AND HYDE HOW DID THIS EVEN HAPPEN AND WHEN DID WE START TAKING IT SERIOUSLY WHEN DID THEY START TAKING IT SERIOUSLY

wait also I re-read your author's note and I realized I did not just dream up you saying that at some point you're probably gonna write eric/jackie/hyde, like, that is an actual thing. And I want it so so badly, ugh.

i may or may not also kinda want to write fic where after donna and kelso go to california jackie starts hooking up with eric instead of hyde bc the SNARK but also actual similar feelings about the people they love running away!!! which they would never admit!! IDEK I JUST WANT TO MAKE IT HAPPEN because even though hyde/jackie is otp forever somewhere along the way i started to ship eric/jackie way too legitimately oops.
