Aw, thank you! This one feels weirdly dark to me (I think it's all of John's uncertainty?), so I'm glad it came across as light-hearted.

Yeah I didn't mean to imply frothy! I loved the complex characterisation, far from light. Just really enjoyed John's POV/confusion.

Oh, no, frothy would be OK, actually! The first one from Sherlock's perspective is fairly light, after all, but I started to get really worried while writing this one that it John is just too hard on Sherlock or something -- the whole crux of his doubt is predicated on a underestimation of Sherlock's capacity for feeling, which started to seem somehow very bleak . . . Obviously I was overthinking it because it all works out just fine in the end! (Overthinking is a chronic problem, clearly.)
