Songfics and Firefly

Song fics are verboten by the greater community of fanfic readers, for good reason, yet they seem to be produced with incredible frequency.  There is something about music that connects with people and makes them think, which in turn makes them want to write.  All of which are good things, but still, I do agree with the multitude of voices who

I would offer to beta, but I'm not particularly well-versed in Firefly canon, to be honest; I've only watched the series once, and haven't seen the film... Hope you find someone! Also, I like Carbon Leaf - and I can see the similarity between their music and the theme tune :)

Don't worry, I kind of gave up and posted it. I figured since I hadn't heard from anyone that I'd just go ahead. (Read it if you like, there's no real incredible need for in depth knowledge, it is, as always, a character piece.)

Woah, another Carbon Leaf fan (and an English one at that.) I love them, they're so much fun. My brother saw them open for Great Big Sea and liked them so much that he bought the cd, and then, having stolen the music from him and loving it, I saw them live last summer. They were great. Cool. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees the connection.
