I would have killed to have been part of a marching show like this. So, so cool. Seriously, some great forms there, especially the horse. The horse was amazing. Those are seriously the kinds of drill charts you dream of in marching band ( Read more... )

THE HORSE! THE HORSE!f

I didn't get all the references, but it was *awesome!* Made himself -former HS tuba player - come watch it with me. We both marched in HS bands and appreciate how incredibly difficult and amazingly precise that was! am sending to the kids, both boys are former marching band kids too.

Hope they like it! I'm very impressed by the band here. I could do without the high step (never did like that), and some of their straight lines were wonky, but moving those forms so well across the field? Brilliant.

I see the Buckeyes are doing more than "dotting the I" these days.

I spent three high school and two college years in marching band, but not for the love of it, so to this day I totally feel like an infiltrator, lol.

I joined in high school because:
1. wanted free admission to home football games so I could look at the boys
2. wanted free transportation/tickets to away football games so I could look at the boys
3. Didn't have to take gym if I took band
4. Easy A to pad my gpa
5. Awesome trips to Disney World, Canada, D.C., etc.

I did a couple years in college because:
1. Filled that pesky phys ed requirement
2. Easy A to pad my gpa
3. Even more opportunities to look at boys and football
4. Lots of people to drink with after the game

Most of my memories of band are more "wth was I thinking" than nostalgia. I was truly more suited to join a sorority but I didn't have the $$.

I am glad that so many of my friends have positive band nostalgia, though.

LOL, sounds like you got out of it what you needed, at least :)

I didn't care about the games, but band was a nice place to "belong" for all the geeks and nerds at my high school. And yeah, the trips were pretty awesome.
