i just got a job at the library here at my school.

in an email i asked "when should i start?"  they replied "wednesday, at 7pm."

i have a third row ticket to see andrew bird on wednesday that cost me $37.55.  i've never gotten to see him live before.

kindly tell them that you can't start then. if they act like it's a problem then go in that night anyway but it doesn't hurt to try. i have a hard time with stuff like this too because i feel like employers don't take me seriously if i say that my schedule conflict is a concert. good luck!

Yeah, since the notice is kind of short...unless you previously told them you had nothing going on Wednesday, they can't really be mad at you for asking them to re-schedule. Andrew Bird is amazing live. I've seen him 4 times! You'll love it. Try your best to get work re-scheduled!

Yes, please do whatever you can (without getting your new employer pissed at you) to get out of work on wednesday so you can see Andrew Bird. He is great to see live.

see the bird. i always liked snell, but the bird is better. you won't regret it. i'll be there, except about a million rows behind you.

it's funny, he's the reason we met.
