bathtime

There isn't a whole lot to say about Bath and what we did and saw there, especially with only half of the intended pictures to show you. When I get the 2nd half from Morgan's camera (we realized we often took pictures of all the same stuff, and were wasting batteries and card space every time we went anywhere.)

So, okay,
The "main" pool at the Roman Baths.

Morgan sitting at the Main Bath.

Me, sitting in the same place.

Temperatures from room to room changed really drastically. The Main Bath was really warm and steamy (we put our hands in and it was like dishwater!) whereas one of the pools inside was freezing cold and we could see our breath. It was really strange, and it didn't help my cold much. :X

Tourists used one of the indoor cold pools as a wishing well.

They STRONGLY ADVISE anyone drinking the water. Yeah, no kidding.

There were weird platform things that used to hold up the floor, so that the heat from the furnace would fill up the air space UNDER the floors to heat them. The Romans were friggin' geniuses. Doesn't look very sturdy, but... they've lasted this long?

More, uh, ruins.

We had a LOT of free time, and later I'll show you pictures of the crazy street performers (two guys, handstands on platforms, leather thongs, creatively placed birthday sparklers... yeah.) and some other things, but for now here are two of the more interesting things.

A theatre had a really strange sculpture attached. This is a bird, and a headless angel. :X

And, later than night, the absolutely stunning Bath Abbey. The ladder up the side was my favourite part. I'm not sure what the fascination is with HEADLESS people is in this town, but nonetheless, I was impressed.
