Usually not a big deal, but since your character is an it, this shows up more frequently.

Desire is an It as a matter of course, unless it's with someone who imposes a gender on it (Tony, for example, imposes the female gender on it, so when it's with Tony, Desire is a she - unless she wants to be a he, naturally). So the possessive, because it is a thinking, breathing individual takes the apostrophe to designate that it's not a rock, or a tree, or something else non-living.
Yes, it's grammatically incorrect by the strictest definition. But this is also not exactly a conventional set of linguistics. If I mix it up in terms of using Its things, that is my unintentional mistake. I intend to use It's for the reasons stated above.
