Awkward...

The woman who sits next to me at work (just across the divider) is on a phone call in which she is clearly applying for another job...and she's referring to her current job in the past tense. And making unfavourable comments about it.

That's a big no-no. You don't say anything remotely bad about your previous job, because it makes you sound like a hater.

Yeah, I know. Very bad strategy. She's a bit like that, though: not very good perspective.

Duuuuuude!

Most of me is glad she didn't accidentally put her conversation on speakerphone and then accidentally route it through the PA system, but there's also a -tiny- bit of me that thinks it would have been REALLY funny. Unlikely, but funny.

Hahahahaha. In fact, our phones don't have speakerphone or access to the PA. However, they are headset-based, which means it's more difficult to disguise what you're saying...and sometimes it seems like you are talking to the person next to you and no the person on the other end of the phone.

Well, regarding phone fun, at work we've changed to a better call-logging system, which records much more. Including background noise. There have been a few instances, and remember where I work, where the background noise on one of our calls has included me singing the Hamster Song on the other side of the partition to the person taking the call. My team managers are not amused. I have been discouraged from singing in the office in future. This is as good a reason as any to quit :-)
