On Monday I had to take the van over to Stapleford for a repair. The bad news was, they couldn’t do it there and then. The good news was that it’s a recognised fault and they would take pictures, get it authorised by Ford and organise the repairs later ( Read more... )

I do love your photographs, they always brighten my day. I'm busy picturing the swan as Gandalf squawking out "You shall not pass" though.

Here is to hoping Ford fix your van quickly and properly though. Vehicles breaking down are a darn buggeration.

Glad you like the pictures! I hope the swan didn't think I was a Balrog :)

The problem with the van is the driver's door - I'd noticed it felt oddly heavy recently and that it was just starting to scrape the edges of the wing when opened.Googling, I found that it's a common fault with this model. The guy at the garage told me the door is too heavy and one of the supports is too long and either after time or windy conditions it all goes a bit Pete Tong....

Still, at least they're owning up to it. They reckon it should be about a fortnight. Which is good, becaus eit's now beginning to make an ominous "clonk" when opened....

That issue raises the uncomfortable prospect of the door swinging open on the motorway and I know that Ford wanted air conditioning which never needed recharging, but that doesn't seem like the solution they should be going for :)

It's more an issue of it trashing the front wing when you open the door because it opens too far, I think. They're planning on replacing the wing anyway, even though the damage isminiscule at this point.

Thank you!

I was really happy to get so close to the Gadwall - he didn't seem at all bothered about th humans pobbling up and down. I suspect the mallards may have told him about paper bags and their contents :)

Wouldn't that be tribble guts, recently ripped from a live tribble and still squirming, onna stick?
