I was partway through crocheting a tiny top hat last night , put the thing down to make a cup of tea and when I came back in the hook had disappeared.

Since we don't even have a sofa for it to have fallen down the back of, I can only assume we must have Feegle in the house and the little hooters have taken up pole-vaulting....

Our Charming Chucko likes to steal pens - and stuff them under things, of course - but he will make do with a crochet hook, in a pinch.

Rebus would have been first suspect, but as far as I can tell, he hadn't moved out of his beanbag while I was gone.

Mr Subtle, he isn't, so I think he can be exonerated ;)

Sounds frustrating as there's no conceivable reason for the crochet hook to go missing. :)

Would it help if I said it was for an octopus? ;)

Making a toy octopus for a friend and thought a whimsical topper might add to the fun of the thing :)

Sounds entirely plausible.

Oh good. That means no-one will suspect my real plans, which involve equipping marmosets with tiny top hats so that they can sneak into the House of Lords unsuspected and....but *MIchael* I'm telling you the *plot*!
