Well, I've returned from my trip! It takes time to adjust to being back, and I'm still feeling rather exhausted and reflective. So I figure, why not make it easy on myself and just make a series of picture posts? I'll post them in succession of their occurrence ( Read more... )

oh my god, what a trainride!! this was the best train story i've ever heard.

the closest memory to this i can offer is when we took the bus along the mountains in laos and suddenly the path ended, that is, there was a big gap in the dirtroad, and without fixing it the bus would just fall down the mountain..so the afternoon was spent filling the gap with dirt. i was very skeptical, but we all survived :)

Hah, I have a feeling that Laos operates on many of the same principles as Peru, when it comes to bus safety...the train ride was nothing compared to our bus rides in the Andes... I'm amazed that people don't die out there daily. Well, we survived :-)
