The 18 Best Movies of 2010

All in all, I thought this year was a good one for film. Although there are only a couple of 'elite' films, the amount of films worthy of mention this year runs relatively deep. The only one I've seen so far is Black Swan. It was playing at Cinemagic on Hawthorne and 20th so I checked it out on your earlier recommendation (on Facebook). Superbly done.

It turns out that "The King's Speech" stole the show for best picture at the Oscars. I'm not entirely surprised-- it was a perfectly constructed film. I'm more surprised that Hooper beat out Fincher for best director.

And I thought for sure that it'd be rather difficult to give best picture to 'King's Speech' after giving best director to Fincher. But that dilemma was bypassed by just giving it to Hooper instead.

Both fantastic films, so I don't have any qualms. Except that Black Swan and Aronofsky deserved to win instead :-)
