I'm not the guy you'd prefer to hear this from, but I'm pretty sure most of them would say something similar.

If your company is inconvenient, the only time I might not tell you that is when it is an inconvenience I'd prefer to the alternative. This is not a case of, "You're worth the trouble," though that's also true. There's also the matter of opportunity. The dishes and the laundry and the taxes and such are always going to be there.
They're not what matters.
Regarding the Carlin quotes, I still think he's taking a very short term view with this one: “The Earth is just fine. The Earth isn’t in any danger. We are.”
This planetary body will cease to exist eventually. Thus far, we're the only thing on the planet with the potential to prevent that from being the end of the Earth. Whether that's a futile effort or not worth the bother are other subjects.
