Things changed so fast it made my head spin.

So while I was out trapping near SLO, as mentioned in my previous post, I got a call from my boss who had received an email from personnel that said I had exhausted my days and only had 13 available to work in May and June. This the same day I was telling my co-worker he needed to keep track of his days and that I needed to take a look at mine to ( Read more... )

Oh holy hell in a handbasket, Abby!

I'm sorry to hear about your thyroid stuff, I know my mom has a lot of issues with her own, and she's having to be checked out often, as well as have dosages tweaked. I hope you feel better soon!

WHATISYOURICONWHYCAN'TISTOPWATCHINGIT.

Yeah so the thyroid thing is new and exciting. While we were discussing it the doctor mentioned that it tends to be genetic and was like, "Do you know of any family history with thyroid issues?" And I shook my head because I sure couldn't think of anything so she said, "Well, maybe you could ask around a bit. It doesn't have to be genetic, but it most frequently is."
So I got home and I said this to mom and immediately she said, "Grandma."

Oh.
So now I know.

ALSO! I got your email with the Soq drawing from your phone. Nifty! What kind of phone did you get?

(And now I suddenly have to leeeeeaaavvvveeee.)

Yeah, I'm sort of at risk myself. My mother and grandmother both have thyroid issues. So...yeah. Something I need to keep an eye on.

Glad you like the phone-drawing, I had fun doing it, and it's been a while since I've drawn CP stuff. I got a Google Nexus S.

*points up Arry-way*

Wot she said.

Plus, congrats/condolences on your impending free time/layoff. Does this mean you might in actual fact be unemployed come July, or is the situation still so nebulous that you can't be sure of anything at this point? In any event, here's hoping things work out for the best.

And yes, I *DO* plan on getting some more Birthday CD's to you this year. Perhaps I'll e-mail you another menu of choices for your deciding pleasure. Because I know how decisive you can be!

At the time I wrote the post it was too nebulous.
Now I have more information and I think what happened is my boss misunderstood and communicated his interpretation to me.

It now actually looks like I'll be able to work more in May-June-July than initially thought and won't be suddenly losing my job at all. (Now, the end of the project? That's a different matter, but I've known that has been coming for a while.)

So I'm going to be taking it easy these three months with occasional days full of trapping. It just won't be week after week like it has been.

...ooooh, Birthday CDs...

I'd like to second Highwing's request for a clarification wrt "days left" issue.

Is your doctor using a log series or a linear series? I'm happy to hear that you have a diagnosis to work with.

>thing about cochlear implants
This would be an indication of student laziness, I suppose.

Yeah the whole "days" thing is confusing in the first place. As a Sci Aid I'm technically not full time and the way the whole rule/mechanic works is that it's automatically assumed that a Sci Aid will work full time for 3/4 of the year and then not at all for 3 months ( ... )

>work days
Sound like something that could be modeled quite easily. :)

Thanks for the explanation.

I assume that you know what I meant by a linear/log series (*promptly steps off a cliff*) so I was basically hoping that your doctor would find the right amount quickly while not overshooting (as I'm not a MD, I don't know when you have to switch from log to linear, if at all).

Sure do (re: log/linear), the problem is that the hormone takes a while to build up and take effect so there hasn't even been an opportunity to adjust dosage yet.
We're just starting with the lowest dose and in July I take another blood test to see how it's doing. I suppose I'll find out then!
