The Civil War: My dorky new interest

It just so happens that the town I've been living in here in Virginia is only about half an hour away from the town of Manassas, where the Battles of Bull Run were held. The old battlefields have been turned into a national park, and it's got miles and miles of trails leading through the fields and the forest that cover the surrounding hills. I ( Read more... )

I don't know if it's from being force-fed Civil War in school as a child, but I have a mysterious aversion to learning about it. No, I am sure it's from being force fed.

I do love that battlefield medicine stuff, though.

You can keep the mammals. Send up some reptiles! Ooh, and amphibians!

Alligators really are like the deer of south florida. They're tons of them, they can pop up in your backyard quite easily, and occassionally they get themselves run over by a car. The only difference is that a deer won't eat your dog or small toddler. In that respect, reptiles are much more interesting than mammals.
