How Difficult is Fundraising?

I've just been accepted to participate in a cross-country bike trip called Ride for World Health, which I am totally excited about, as riding cross country is something I've been dreaming about for years. We're raising money for two excellent world health funds, which makes the bike ride even more fulfilling, but the only problem I just learned of ( Read more... )

SO funny: I was just talking today with F about how you've always wanted to do a cross-country bike ride! That's serendipity for you. :)
Yeah, I'm poor and can't help much, but you can count me down for a few bucks if you decide to go ahead and start collecting the money.

I think the key might be to get small donations from a lot of people -- write a good email explaining what it is and why it's worthwhile, and reminding ppl that donations are tax-deductible, maybe set up a paypal account, and send it around to everybody you know, your family etc. And ask them to spread it too.

How to raise $2500 in a month ridethisbike January 23 2007, 19:09:42 UTC
Raising $2500 in a month is possible. Try to break the total amount down into daily or weekly goals. For example, $2500 divided by 31 days leaves a daily fundraising goal of $80 or $560/wk.

Since you're pressed for time, ask friends and family to help you by telling everyone they know about what you're doing. Ask each person for a pledge that they'll tell at least 3 other people about your project.

By the way, I write about long distance bike tours on a regular basis and am open to doing a story about your trip too; however, it must be compelling for my readers (recreational cyclists, commuters & folks into health, fitness, outdoors & adventure travel).

Check out my site. If you like what you see, contact me and we can discuss this further.

Thanks for the tips! If you don't mind me asking, how did you find my LJ?

I am totally open to you doing a story on the bike trip. It's a fundraiser for a couple of non-profits, and we're educating folks on world health issues along the way.
