The rain went away just as I was leaving Budapest, how nice. I got here in Vienna and it's mostly cloudy, but in a good way, otherwise it'd be too hot.

Looks like the Schonbrunn Palance & Tiergarten(Zoo) is like two blocks from the Hostel I wanna stay at, and I got a Vienna Card which is good for all forms of transportation for 72 hours for E16 and change. I can't find the exact street on the city map they gave me, even with the directions on the Hostel website, but I know around where it is, and I pinpointed a street it supposedly intersects with, so I figure it shouldn't be too hard to canvas and get to.

Everything's more expensive now, and it looks like Fethr's gonna be walking away with a little shy of 30,000 Forint(Approximately $150 USD? The exchange rate is 205 Forint -> 1USD when I checked yesterday) for nothing, feel free to tell her before I get back. My one stipulation is that she can't convert it back from Forint, my intent is that she use it when she goes back to Budapest.

First impression of the city is very good, I think I've already got a little bit of a grasp on the way it's set up, which was most definitely not the case in Bruxelles/Paris/Geneve/Budapest..

I think after here or perhaps Munchen I'm going back to my previous scatterbrain way of travelling that I utilized in the first few cities I went to(Find place to sleep, wander around for 6 hours, sleep, wake up, leave for next city) in order to get back to Bruxelles in time to leave.

In an ideal world it would have worked out with an equal amount of time in each place and city plans that I could intuit so as not to cause delays in my adventuring, but that's certainly not in this universe. I've had plenty of hiccups, and wondered a lot whether it was worth all the money to come, but I think today and tomorrow will be the pinnacle of my trip, rather fitting that it's also my birthday. People told me all the time when I was at home in the months before I left how Blank or Blank is great, Germany, Praha, and Amsterdam stand out among the rest.. But everyone has different likes and dislikes, and from what I've seen so far, Austria is where I feel I belong.

Of course this is sort of silly to say since I haven't been to any of those top three recommended to me so far, but I don't think it'll make much of a difference. As a side note, I'm not going to Praha at all, it's looking like Munchen for 1 day, possibly 2, running like a madman through Berlin probably for 1 night?, and maybe not stop until I hit Bruxelles, depending on how it all works out.. So Vienna may in fact be pretty much the end of my trip for all intents and purposes, I haven't worked out a precise timetable yet, but I will NOT risk missing my plane home, not for any country, no matter how cool.

I found a towel last night at Kaiser's Szupermarket, which is the szhit, by the way. They're a normal grocery store on the first floor, followed by 4 more floors of weird flea marketesque shopping opportunities. It's kind of what I always envisioned what a supermarket should be, not just food, but everything you can imagine, clothes for men, women, and kids.. washers, dryers, towels, bedsheets, shoes of all sorts, toys, baby stuff, clocks, games, whatever the hell.

Thinking back, I believe I just realized that I may have in fact left my towel at the Hostel, which is now in another country from the one I currently reside in.

Oh well, I loved it, even if for only one use, it was marvelous. A beautiful yellow. Alas.

I don't plan on staying in any more ghetto Hostels though, and the ones sactioned by Hostelling International usually will provide them for you, if sometimes at a price.

I guess I should be hopping on the U-bahn and running off to check out the Hostel, but I paid for an hour of interwebz, and I've got 27 minutes left, so I wanna let my money take me as far as it will.

For once I also arrived in a city at a decent time, it's only 13:29 now instead of my normal 16:00 or so which doesn't leave a lot of time left for adventuring, it's a bit surprising how early some places close here in Europe. Though I have a hunch it's so that all the employees can run off to the pubs and get hammered. I should do the same I guess.

I will go have some beer in Munchen, if not before, since that's basically what it's known for.

love,
Clark
