Part 2

The light is almost gone when Dave wakes up. He registers vaguely the lack of Kurt’s presence beside him and opens his eyes a little wider to discover that Kurt’s currently sitting on the edge of the bed buttoning up his shirt.

"Hey," Dave calls softly.

Kurt turns. "Hey," he replies, voice unreadable.

Dave shifts ( Read more... )

Once again, this is fabulous. I'm loving ever bit of it.

I'm feeling a little dense, though, and so I just have to ask - what was it that Kurt was looking for, what "specific" thing? He clearly intended to find *someone* to have sex with that day, but other than an hour's distraction, what did he expect to get from it?

On to the rest...

I already left a comment gushing about how much I love this story, but there was one part that I didn't get:

Puckerman smirks. "Not all of us are as oblivious as Kurt. Tell your friend Azimio that for someone in creative writing, he’s slightly lacking in the creativity department. I figured out what he was doing three weeks in.”

What's Puck implying here? It's probably totally obvious, but I'm just not getting it. Thanks!

Puck is referring back to junior year, when Azimio was making up stories to cover up the fact that Dave couldn't actually bully anyone anymore. Since Puck still has a reputation as a tough guy even though we never see him do anything these days, I figured he'd catch on to the ploy more quickly than anyone else.

Ah, okay. That was my best guess, but I wasn't sure. Thanks! :D

His mom is far from perfect but she's clearly trying and that means a hell of a lot.

THIS. So much. My parents weren't prepared either time I came out, but the fact they tried made all the difference in the world.

I'm re-reading the story right now, but this:

Kurt’s gaze doesn’t waver. "Screw you, Karofsky," he says savagely, eyes hard with rage and looking just as self-righteous as he had that day in the locker room.

And for the first time in Dave's life, he just doesn't care. "Already been there," he says flatly, "haven't we?"

This scene will never lose its impact for me.

Eeee! This scene was one of the first ones I wrote out of the entire story and it still remains a favorite of mine! (Possibly because like Dave, all my comebacks tend to be stupid and somewhat juvenile -- FOR MAXIMUM DRAMA!!!)

Also, yay! Glad to hear you liked the story enough to reread. Hopefully I'll be posting the podfic for everyone to listen to sometime next week too if all goes well.

I'm not a fan of podfics or audiobooks but I do have a friend who enjoys them and uses my free coupons from amazon.uk to buy them. It may also be my chance to interest her in Karofsky - she hates his guts as a character on Glee (which for me is unfathomable - he's like the only thought-through character nowadays on this show and I can see him change bit after bit). I'll look forward to it.

But it will definitely listen to this part of podfic. ^.^
