[We open on a particularly adorable sight: a sleepy-looking Vulpix curled up around a bicolored egg (those of you who got the same one may recognize it as a Riolu egg). The camera jostles a bit, then pans around the interior of the Goldenrod Department Store, where Sakaki is standing in front of the counter looking at... CDs? After a few seconds, ( Read more... )

I've never really bought any TM's to use myself, but... If you can teach a move that is out of the usual range for a Pokemon, it'll be a big advantage in a battle.

Hmm... So, something that would be unexpected? That makes sense.

[A bit of a subject change...] Have you challenged the Goldenrod Gym? Since I ended up here... I may try for that badge before I go back.

Mm, that's the best bet.

Aaa, the gym, huh... Yeah, I was the first person in my group to take it on. Seems like a long time ago, now... The focus there is normal types, so fighting moves will be a big help! Though more importantly, having a female team is vital.

.... also, be ready to deal with Whitney-san crying.

Normal-type... I see. We'll have to rely on our strength, then. Unless there is a Fighting-type TM for sale here. [She starts looking over what's on sale again.]

A female team? I do have more girls than boys with me, but why is that important? And... crying?

I think it depends on the Pokemon.

Mm, you're probably right. I should start with Maru-chan, since he is my lead... [She picks up a TM.] Perhaps "Dig"? I don't believe any of my partners know any Ground-type moves already...

Then that sounds like a good place to start!

[nods] Mm. What do you think, Maru-chan?

[Maru eyes the TM thoughtfully, then flicks his tail as if to say "Eh, it's okay."]

Mm. I went from December 4th to today, without... being conscious of the time passing.

[She nods, before remembering that this conversation is set to voice only.] Y-Yes. I can't explain it, except to say that it's another of the strange circumstances common here in Johto.

Try to look for attacks of a type you do not already have. However, direct attack tend to be more expensive. Do you tend to use status ailments and other special effects in battle, or do you favor direct attacks?

That's good advice. Thank you. [ponders the question for a moment] ...We mostly attack directly, but we do like to ready status ailments early on in longer battles.

You could try Toxic. It's stronger than the normal poison effect, from what I can tell. Then again, it wouldn't help against Poison- and Steel-types...

Really? That sounds very handy. And I don't believe Steel-types are common, are they? [She reaches over to page through the TMs for Toxic.]

Man, you had me worried for a while.

I thought you'd been airlifted out by a balloon or somethin'.

Ah, I'm sorry I worried you. Hopefully it won't happen again.

Are you still in Violet City? And speaking of balloons, how has your Drifloon been?
