1. I collided with someone on a skateboard and we were both fine, at most I probably have a bruised ass. Right before it happened I was looking directly at him but had I assumed the worst it would have been avoided. I think he should have been more careful (as in not look in the opposite direction your skateboard is heading, dick). I really don't ( Read more... )

Where in Japan do you want to study? Also, what do you want to do with your Japanese Major (I ask because you mention graduate school)?

I was thinking Waseda, but there are other year-long programs I'm looking into. I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do with my major... (thus I'm hitting the career center at some point)

Well, and this is just my experience (and I am no expert), but it is somewhat important for which graduate school to go to. If you want to work in translation, you probably should go for a competitive masters degree. A doctorate seems to be unnecessary, just aim for a M.A. and make sure you pass the JLPT-1.

If you want to work in academics, or in the study of the Japanese language / history or literature, you probably need a doctorate.

As a pedestrian on the UO campus, I always wanted to bodycheck the jerks who didn't look where they were going while on wheels of some sort.

You actually did it! yay! :)

I got a blood type test in my Intro to Human Physiology class. Kinda convenient... :D I think you can get your type tested by a doctor, I'm not sure.

My friend chris is actually living in the outskirts of tokyo with a host family right now, studying abroad. I will definitely get him to pass some words of knowledge your way when he returns in... july I think. It is much more involved than he imagined from his random blog entries, but I think if you can do it, you should really go for it. Once in a lifetime thing.
