Part 2
Two weeks later
“Maknae!” Youngbae called Little Seunghyun when he saw him walking into the gym.
“What’s up, hyung!” Big Bang’s maknae greeted back, “How long have you been here?
“Almost an hour,” said Youngbae, “Do you want to join me and Jiyong this evening?”
“Where are you going?” asked Little Seunghyun interestingly.
“A restaurant of Jiyong’s friend,” said Youngbae excitedly, “I have a date!”
“It sounds great,” said Little Seunghyun, “but shouldn’t you go there alone?”
“Yes, but,” said Youngbae, “In case it doesn’t turn out well, at least I can have a moral support knowing you and Jiyong are there too.”
“If you say so hyung,” said Little Seunghyun, “When and where shall we meet?”
“8 pm. You pick Jiyong up and meet me there. He said I should take my car so that you don’t have to take the taxi back if it works well,” said Youngbae finishing his working out.
“Ok,” said Little Seunghyun pausing a little, “Can I ask you a question?”
“Yes,” said Youngbae sitting next to warming up Seunghyun.
“Is Jiyong hyung ok with this?” asked Little Seunghyung.
“Why not?” Youngbae asked him back. Jiyong’d be happy if he had a girlfriend.
“They said a best friend and a girlfriend can’t get along,” said Little Seunghyun.
“I never have a problem when he was dating those girlfriends,” said Youngbae definitely, “It’ll be the same for him.”
“Ok,” said Little Seunghyun. Seeing Youngbae getting up, he said good bye and turned to his routine.
….
At the restaurant
“Hi, Juri!” Jiyong called a beautiful girl who was walking through the door inside.
“Hi, Jiyong,” said Juri. She did not expect to see him.
They were friends since high school. They hadn’t met for since graduate as Jiyong was busy training and Juri was preparing to be qualified for Miss Korea Contest which she finally won in 2009.
“What are you doing here?” asked Jiyong inviting her to sit with them. “This is our maknae, Seungri,” Jiyong introduced them, “Maknae, this is my friend, Juri.”
“Noona, you are not the Kim Juri, aren’t you?” asked Little Seunghyun.
“Yes, I am,” said Juri smiling, “nice to meet you to Mr. Victory.”
“What are you doing here?” asked Jiyong, “Meeting someone?” They did have a good relationship back then, but they were never dating.
“Yes, I am meeting a friend. She said she is seeing an idol. She doesn’t even tell me who,” said Juri complaining.
“Where is she? Do I know her?” asked Jiyong ordering some soft drinks for his friend.
“She hasn’t arrived yet and no, you don’t know her. She is my friend at university,” said Juri, “What are you doing here? Just hang out?”
Little Seunghyun was about to say the real reason Jiyong said it first.
“Yes,” said Jiyong, “you can sit with us until they come.”
“Yeah, thanks,” said Juri, “but…” She did not want a rumor with them. She preferred no fans to some antis. With these guys, she could have thousands of antis just over night.
“Don’t worry about paparazzi noona. Here is our friend’s restaurant,” said Little Seunghyun.
“Oh! There she comes,” said Juri, “Hana!” She waved at a pretty girl. She was walking with a familiar guy.
Juri stood up to greet her friends. Once she looked at the guy next to her closely, she realized that he was none other than her friend’s friend, Youngbae.
“Hi Youngbae,” greeted Juri, “Long time no see.” She then turned to Hana and complained, “Why don’t you tell me it’s him?”
“Do you know each other?” asked Hana sitting next to Youngbae who was sitting next to Jiyong.
“Since high school. He came to our school often to see Jiyong,” said Juri.
“It’s a small world, isn’t it?” said Jiyong.
“So Juri is the best friend you want me to meet?” asked Youngbae.
“Yes,” said Hana, “and I don’t know that you want me to meet them too.”
“They are just co-incident, right?” said Youngbae asking for support from his friends.
“Noona, we are just the co-incident,” said Little Seunghyun teasingly, “so do you want some drinks?”
….
Youngbae walked back to his room after he drove Hana to her apartment. He thought they had an enjoyable night. Noticing the lights in Jiyong’s room still on, he decided to stop by his best friend.
Knock!
Knock!
Youngbae opened the door softly. There were many times that Jiyong dozed off without turning off the lights. After working all day and hanging out with them, he might be so tired that he knocked off already.
Jiyong was sleeping face down on his bed. It looked like he lay down as soon as he finished the shower. Jiyong would easily catch a cold if he slept like that so he put the big warm blanket over him. He was sleeping like the Jiyong when they first met. Youngbae smiled slightly.
“Goodnight Jiyong,” said Youngbae. He turned off the lights and walked up to his room.
“Goodnight Youngbae,” said Jiyong after Youngbae left. He knew what Youngbae wanted to talk, but he was not ready for it. In the morning, he would wake up and listen to whatever he wanted to say about ‘her’.
….
At YG during lunch
“So you are dating this girl?” asked Teddy.
“Yes, she is great. Being with her, I feel like singing a love song,” said Youngbae smiling shyly.
“You are really falling for her, aren’t you?” said Teddy, “What do you think Jiyong? Jiyong?” He had to call him twice.
“Yes?” said Jiyong. He felt like his head was exploding. After hearing how Youngbae met Hana, how they started dating and how he felt for her, Jiyong felt like all the air in his lungs went out. It hurt so much that he felt like dying. But he was there faking a laugh along the tease their hyungs put on Youngbae about his newly found girlfriend. Actually, he did not know how everything went around him at all. He was just there.
“Do you think your best friend is falling in love?” asked Teddy. Looking at Jiyong, he was stunned to see the blank and painful eyes of the younger. He blinked once and looked at him again. It was gone. He saw the same old poker faced Jiyong.
“Are you?” Jiyong asked Youngbae and tried to joke around like usual.
Youngbae just smiled back and said nothing.

Jiyong’s phone rang. He walked away to answer it.
“He’s just breaking with someone or something?” asked Teddy. He could not let go of those painful eyes though he saw them every briefly.
“No, he isn’t seeing anyone at the moment,” said Youngbae, “Why?”
Teddy said nothing. If Youngbae did not know, he did not think anyone would.
“Sorry, I’ve got to go,” said Jiyong, “Choice hyung just called.”
“Jiyong, what about this evening?” asked Youngbae. He had asked Jiyong to have dinner with him and Hana.
“I have to meet with the Nuthang,” said Jiyong, “Tell her I’m sorry. I’ll treat both of you next time.”
“What time will you get back tonight?” asked Youngbae, “Is Seunghyun hyung going with you?”
“I guess so,” said Jiyong leaving, “I really got to go. See you later.”
Teddy looked at Youngbae and asked, “You don’t like them?”
“Who?” asked Youngbae.
“Jiyong’s friends,” said Teddy.
“It’s not like that. Some of them are great friends Jiyong can have but,” said Youngbae.
“But what?” asked Teddy. Youngbae sounded weird. If he did not know both of them, he would think his juniors were dating each other. If one of them were girl, they would have made the perfect couple.
“Jiyong was their maknae and they let him drink! Not only that, there were some guys who had been trying to flirt with him for years,” said Youngbae, “I don’t want them to make my best friend a homo.”
“He won’t. Don’t you see how many girls he’s been dating?” said Teddy, “By the way I don’t think you are a homophobia or something like that?” He saw the younger working with them fine.
“And I’m not,” said Youngbae, “I don’t want Jiyong to fight for an impossible relationship he doesn’t want in the first place.”
“So you are fine if one day he will fall for a guy?” asked Teddy.
Youngbae did not answer. But Teddy’s question did hit him hard. Would he really be fine?
