15minuteficlets Word #58 Tony/Michelle.

Characters not mine.

I have no idea why this is what I got out of the word.

It never rained anymore.

When Tony went away, Michelle thought that the sky would do nothing but weep. In fact, every sunny day seemed to only remind her of all the time she could not spend outside with him. The beaming rays of the sun would only blind her for moments as she found herself staring off away from her computer.

In books and films, when the person one loved suddenly vanished for a long period of time the world seemed to understand. The sky would turn gray, everyone would look at that person with warm sympathetic eyes and for some odd reason the pace of day to day life would actively slow down.

Not here.

Here all she had were memories of a last desperate kiss and the constant ringing of phones and people who weren't sure how to treat her but for the most part were not entirely sympathetic. Most of them, especially the ones who didn't know the whole story, she felt, probably blamed her for their boss being arrested and tried as a traitor.

People that should have been more understanding were locked in their own downward spirals.

She stood at the doors of CTU and thought about if she should go inside today. Part of her wished she'd just given in her resignation and left before the trial.

The security guard looked at her curiously. She stood with one hand on the door and in her mind, the other touching her husband's face.

Rain, she thought, looking briefly up. She closed her eyes for a moment and waited for the feel of water against her skin.

There was nothing. The world refused to bend to her will.
