On the bright side the nurses at the ER know me well enough that I overheard one of them tell the other one She's latex sensitive use the blue stuff. On the downside I've been in the ER enough that the nurses know my allergies without looking them up.(Yes they still looked them up anyway and asked me for my list of allergies ( Read more... )

No ideas about questions for the neurologist, but you and Drkn should definitely write up your experiences with this doctor and file them with the hospital and the medical oversight board. He's a malpractice lawsuit waiting to happen, and they need to be aware of it.

Know that you are in my thoughts and that I am wishing you strength and healing.

I am sorry you are having such a negative experience with the ER doc. I know exactly what you mean. I won't go to the ER myself if there is any way at all to avoid it. I get the same thing. No matter what's wrong with me, the doc tries to tell me it's "just a panic attack". I think they do it to woman in general, and if you are a woman who has any history of mood disorder or other psychological difference from "average", they do it even more. It's just plain wrong. I always feel like yelling "I've had panic attacks, don't you think I'd know if I was having one?".

I hope your good doctor can help advocate for you, so that you can have better experiences going forward.

Typical. Doctors just suck. They always say it's a panic attack, and it's only the men in our lives who can tell them otherwise, and even then it doesn't always help.

I'm sorry to hear it's epilepsy, and like starcat_jewel, I don't know what kinds of questions you should ask. You're in my thoughts.

Make sure you know all the side effects of the medications. My sister, as you remember, has had seizures all here life and they tried a lot of meds over the years that didn't interact well together, or gave her diarrhea, or whatever. Just make sure you know that they let you know exactly what your in for, because sometimes it's a long road to go on to find a drug that works for your particular condition. Sometimes the medicine is worse than the disease and sometimes the meds are just right the first time. Just remember that I love you, and will always send warm thoughts and hugs and be there to talk to if you need me while you're on this journey. I know I've been absent of late. Trying to get my life in order, but I will make the time if you call me up and say that you need me. And if they give you something that makes you feel gorked out of your skull, TELL THEM. It may be the right med but just too much of it. My sister was on a lot of seizure medications at one point and no she wasn't having seizures, but it was halting ( ... )
