[PGSM Review] Acts 26-30

Oct 13, 2010 07:20

Mio is obviously a lying faker, but it's interesting that the act she puts on is modeled perfectly after Usagi. She pretends to be forgiving, trusting, outgoing friends with new acquaintances immediately - and she even 'offers' to quit the entertainment business if Usagi says so, much as Usagi has already mentioned wanting to quit being Sailor Moon if being Moon meant having to fight Ami as Dark Mercury. Mio even goes so far as to say things about hoping Minako becomes even more popular in her career, much like Usagi would probably (sincerely) say about a rival.

What I do like about Mio is that she brings out an interesting side of Usagi: conflict. Usagi is rarely conflicted, and once she meets Mio, she does have a sense things aren't right, but she can't bring herself to not believe in someone, even with that much proof. She convinces herself that it's just her fangirling over Minako that makes her not feel like being warm to Mio, and she tries to be warm to her anyway.

I'm trying to decide if I think Mio is mocking or mimicking Ami when she cries that she did it because she wanted Usagi all to herself because she loves Usagi, when Minako confronts her at the live concert setup.
