Beginning with Lou Henry Hoover, the incumbent First Lady has served as the Honorary President of Girl Scouts of the United States of America. Lou Henry Hoover was also the actual President of the Girl Scouts from 1922-1925 and Chairman of the National Board of Directors from 1925-1928.

Yeah it would be nice if somebody brought some real attention to this issue. It seems like the bsa discrimination problems don't tend to find there way to the national stage. The media occasionally mentions it when a gay scout leader is outed and then kicked out, but the story never seems to have any staying power. It is especially unfortunate because there are lots of great scout troops that are inclusive, but they have to break the rules to be that way. That is a real shame.
