I'm so torn on this "dieting", "watching what you eat", "counting calories" business. I want to be healthy. At 5'6" and 195ish pounds, I am obviously not physically healthy. But what price should I pay for my health? How healthy is it for me to obsess about what I eat, think about food constantly, and hang my self-worth for the day on what I ate

I agree with this. I have been dieting with Crystal and her husband - not counting calories, but following a diet prescribed by her doctor - but I wanted Fuji's on my birthday and I don't feel guilty about that. I do think that all things are best done in moderation and eating an entire bag of chips in one sitting probably is the greatest thing for you whether you're trying to lose weight or not, but the important thing is how you feel.
Crystal's cardiologist has been stressing that point a lot lately - test data is less important than the fact that she feels good. If you feel good about yourself, if you feel healthy, that's what matters. If you're making yourself unhappy just to shed a few pounds, IMO it's really not worth it.
