Wrong in so many ways....

I just overheard someone say that when his wife dies, he's going to marry his daughter for her money.

*deer in the headlights stare*Now, I've heard some strange things in my day... but that pretty much takes the cake. Which leads one to wonder what "takes the cake" actually means, because when you think about it, that makes no sense whatsoever. ( Read more... )

although cakes are generally given out as raffle prizes and not as blue ribbon replacements.

And, you know, once they've take the cake, they can eat it, too, which breaks that other old adage... unless the cake they've taken is someone else's, in which case they can have someone else's cake and eat it, too, which is really not the same thing at all.

I guess, in either case, I would only be able to say, "let them eat cake," you know- if that's their thing and all.

Aaahh... takes the cake=wins the prize. Now that makes some sense.

And just why can't you have your cake and eat it too? I've never understood that one. If I have my cake, you'd better believe I'm going to eat it!

Whee! I occasionally bring up the "how do you draw a blank" discussion at work. Just to see people's eyes glaze over.

HA!!! I love it. That is still one of my FAVORITE arguments from our Bronze days. I've used it a few times myself and no one has yet to prove to me that it is possible to 'draw a blank'... :)

I still say I won with my "pulling a blank Scrabble piece from a bag" example.

So nyah! :-)

Sure, you pulled a blank from the pile, but you didn't draw it! :)

So, nyah back at you! :P

Hee! It's made me take a bit of a stroll down memory lane myself! I don't really miss the show that much, but I sure miss the times with my buds.
