There can't be many people who haven't read this at school, so I'm going to dispense with the plot summary and just paste my BookCrossing Journal Entry.

I read it in a single evening as I didn't get to read it at school - our neighbouring English class got Of Mice and Men and instead they forced Lord of the Flies on my class, which I HATED. If only they'd introduced me to Steinbeck earlier! I've read several of his works in recent years and enjoyed them tremendously. East of Eden I galloped through in six days, I was that gripped by it!
