[Lulu Bell, back home after her escapades in the angelic realm, has been meandering through the circles, conferring with the higher powers and simply enjoying the atmosphere. Screams are infinitely preferable to singing.

A demon of the seventh circle--she doesn't know his name, although she has spoken to him--catches her attention. There is some creativity here. Creativity is a rarity.]

You enjoy your work.

[The appoaching woman caught his eye, and he turned and walked from the river's edge towards her. He welcomed the familiar face; of course, demons were always welcome in his circle.]

What's not to enjoy? I find it amusing, the tenacity of these sinners.

Doesn't it grow dull?

[Not that Lulu Bell doesn't appreciate fine torture, but she's a transient, wandering between levels and venturing beyond Hell. She doesn't understand the joys of repetition.]

[An odd question. Did it ever bore him? He can't say it did. Admittedly, most surrendered to the pain in the end, causing the thrill of torture to wane. Who wanted to slash at someone unresponsive? But there were so many violent crimes occuring, so many disgusting people at his disposal. A different face, a different scream. The same anger, though, and the same final despair.]

No, it doesn't. It's one more person to feel immesurable pain. I don't tire of seeing them struggle against me. Even if it ends the same way for every one of them, I live to see the last bit of hope in their eyes die away.

[ It would be if Tyr had any say in it.

He had known, or had at least suspected, that something wasn't right with Kanone from the day he met the young man. The sight before him? That was just confirmation for the former-commander-turned-sinner as he walked up to the demon with all the self-righteousness of his former position. In fact, with his bo staff in hand and sweat and blood clinging to his skin, he didn't look much different from when he had led his army into battle. ]

Kanone! What's wrong with you?

Tyr, you're right on time! I was worried that I would have to wait a bit for another to fall in.

[He gestures to the bloody river.] This fellow won't be back too soon. Sinners never like to make the job easy for us. But, I'm sure that's why we punish them the way we do. [A soft laugh.]

[ So disgusted with Kanone right now. ]

Have you lost your mind? There's a difference between punishing someone and using that as an excuse to hurt them! You're going too far.

[ Yeah, he doesn't get that "right on time" thing. Getting all up to you, Kanone. ]

Tyr, do you know where you are?

[He's always amused by the righteous types. They end up falling the hardest. But oh, so much fun to play with.]

Do you think that would mean anything here? Everyone who arrives in the circles is deserving of whatever we give them.

[And yes, there's your hint, Tyr.]

[A hop or two down to the next level, the demon in white was on his way back to his own circle when he came across this. Oh, what a sight it was.

He purposefully kept himself hidden from the victims though he suspected that the other demon would have noticed his presence by now. A cheek resting at the palm of his hand, he decided to sit back and enjoy more of the show from above until he's called out.]

Hm? [Kanone took his eyes away from the river to scan the circle. He wasn't expecting anyone, of course, and most demons were usually busy enough playing with their own victims to pay him frequent visits.

But this person was most definitely not a human that had been dragged into Hell. No, this was a demon. Kanone put on a friendly smile.]

I hope you found this little show to be entertaining.

[He stood up from his position and dropped down beside the other.]

I always wondered how things were handled up here. One of the keepers of the Seventh Circle I take it. Don't tell me that's the end of it.

Yes, I'm very lucky. The people who end up here think that they're terrors in their own world. I like breaking that illusion.

...The heat of the river is nothing to laugh at. It'll burn that man, inside and out. But his punishment is that he can never lose consciousness from the intense pain, nor can he die from it. He'll come back to me after his little swim, and then we can start where we left off.
