Giving a pet some kind of intoxicating agent, such as letting them drink alcohol, or blowing pot smoke at them to get them high: harmless fun or dangerous and stupid?

My college roommate had friends who would blow pot smoke at her cat and give her beer. Personally I think giving cats catnip is much more fun. I don't know if there's a doggie-specific thing - dognip?

I don't think it's a fair thing to do to ANY living being.

My brother told me a few years ago that he blew pot smoke in my cat's face. She was neurotic to begin with and now she's just insane. I had to give her to my mom because she freaked out over the baby and she started ripping out all her hair.

Potential harmful, completely stupid, and 100% not cool. I wouldn't do that to a person without their consent, why would it be okay to do it to a helpless animal?

Why is this even a question?

Have you not seen all the youtube clips of drunk and high pets. A lot of people seem to think it's harmless and hilarious. I thought it might be an interesting debate. If you have other ideas for interesting debates, go ahead and post them.

I wasn't snerking you for this specific post, I just meant in general: Why is this even a question for pet owners? Like the other posters, I think it's idiotic and abusive.
