When a person has been unsuccessful at owning a certain type of animal/certain breed, how much time do you feel they should wait before attempting to own that breed again ( Read more... )

I don't really think it's an issue of how much *time* should elapse. It's more about what has or has not changed in the meantime.

I tried to find a local rescue group to take that poor dog away from her but I was too late. FFS she needs to give up on this whole dog ownership thing altogether but she might be a special case of stupid.

Time isn't a factor, it's a matter more of education and understanding I think. The dog breed won't change so the owner has to, I just don't think some people are capable of that kind of change and acceptance of responsibility.

I swear I read once that someone in the community tried to meet up with her to take the poor pup to a rescue but she stood them up. I could be remembering wrong though.

I fail at dogs. Training them, socializing them, everything having to do with them...until my last dog. I still kinda failed with her on the training bit. She liked to flee and that's why I don't have her anymore. :(

I'd like to think I'll own a dog again some day. :/
