I probably would have had a pregnant spay done on the mama cat, to be quite honest.

I do what we do at the vet I work for- we vaccinate, worm and microchip the kittens, and sell them for $125 to cover costs ( usually about a month or more of food and medical care) - they can also have their next vaccination and desexing at half price, and we send them home with enough food and litter for the next week, as well as a revolution new kitten pack ( which includes a sample and some other stuff.)

I'd probably contact a reputable rescue and ask if they could courtesy list them while I foster them until they find homes. I don't feel confident enough in my self to do any screening for good homes, and the rescue can likely help me get their vaccines covered etc.

However, it also depends on where I live... when I was young (and a whole lot dumber) my mother used to let our cat get pregnant every year or so and we always had homes lined up for the kittens among our friends. Of course, this was over 20 years ago.

I don't like giving away animals for free, because who knows what the random person who's going to grab them will do?

I'd likely get the first shots if I could afford it and then charge at least something for the kittens. I also like the idea of contacting rescues and seeing if they can help out.

Contact a local rescue and ask for assistance. At this point, we would be hard pressed to afford even the initial rescue. I'd strike a deal with a local rescue if they help me, I'll foster. I've found usually they are most in need of foster homes and money is less of an issue, given that they have contacts at vets that help them for cheap.
