as Paul can tell you, my titles are steeped in pretension. the term "psychrophilia" means "cold-loving" and comes from Mycology (the study of mushrooms/fungi)
It looks like it will be an enriching listen... enjoyable not being quite the right word, given its wrist-slashing qualities. I guess my one criticism would be that there's quite a bit of repetition regarding artists used, but everyone views mixtape construction differently--I favor breadth over depth.
indeed, i debated the repetition of artists quite a bit. in the end though, i wanted to remain true to both a certain feel (the "wrist-slashing" you refer to) and reflect what's really stuck in my head these days. other artists lost out on spots to ones already represented for these reasons, and depth won out over breadth.
Some of the MP3s on my 2002 Winter Mix are: 2. Death Cab for Cutie - "For What Reason" & "Title Track" 4. Modest Mouse - "Cold Part" 6. Mogwai - "Hunted by a Freak" 10. Pavement - a few songs actually 11. Pixies - "Where is my mind" & "gigantic"
I still miss the Perfect Power Pop mix from '98, but this new cd is quite good. Actually, I've been on a nostalgic music kick for about a month. Without my cds, I've just been free associating old tunes. Whod've thunk that my brain would dredge up Dead Milkmen, Phish, Anthrax, Phil Collins, Bob Dylan, etc. etc. I can't believe how many cds I own that I haven't listened to in years. Man, I guess i need an iPod. Someday.
