I suppose that it is good to know. But given my choice, I would not have learned it in the way that I did.

In all likelihood it was given to me by my mother, or my father. I know that both of them have died, I have just ["I have just" looks like it's supposed to be crossed out, but... it doesn't work that well.] They were not perfect people, but I know that they cared for me, and I for them.

I wear beads, as my mother did, but I have no other way to show that this care existed, once.

[For her, "seeing" writing is not unlike feeling carved words and reading them, when one's not used to doing that. The general location's easy to pinpoint, but recognition comes one letter at a time, and a picture must be formed of each.]

I was. I am not fit to be among so many humans now, and blindness is not crippling for such as I.

I have six senses. This last is not sight. Shadow and colors and other phenomena of light mean different things, and writing takes much greater effort to decipher. But it will suffice.
