Yeah, the whole premise sounds rather ridiculous and I couldn't agree more about Anna Paquin. The Piano was her pièce de résistance but since then? Average, very average.
The only thing that True Blood possibly has going for it is that Alan Ball is at the helm. He writes beautifully although, this all feels remarkably similar to the indulgence HBO allowed David Milch (John from Cincinnati) which didn't sit at all well with normally discerning viewers (although I got a kick out of it). I'm not holding my breath about this one.
