I’m taking a break from writing. Not for any dramatic reason. I’ve turned in a massive novel to my agent (I threw away half the book and rewrote it before I was happy, so it was a mammoth piece of writing), I have a Hobverse novel that I’m planning to publish with the Skolion ( Read more... )

what about a certain other hobverse novel we were recently discussing??? anything happening there?

I am well aware that simply putting words down in a document is not writing.

I have to disagree with this. it's all writing, even if it never sees the light of day. it's all useful in some way. BUT I also hold the position that not-writing is a kind of writing, too. so yes, I totally agree that taking breaks and doing other things are necessary and important (both for our writing and for just being human). I am feeling a growing need for a break myself, but I don't see when I'll get the chance, unfortch.

I wish I were better at #4! I'm trying not to beat myself up about it too much because life has been BUSY lately (and lbh I've been reading a lot of fanfic oops) but I need to make space for it again SOON. I've always been slightly smug toward writers who don't read, and now I am one.
