We had to leave my cousin's Celebration of Life event before I was quite finished - well, I was tired-finished but emotionally I still could have basked in the presence of the living for awhile - but G was actually sweaty-foreheaded and I had visions of him coming down sick and everyone remembering us for that with, you know, justified annoyance

I've noticed the same about family, and when you're young you think everything will last forever, that everyone will always be there.

Maybe we need to write all those things down and ceremoniously tape them to the backs of pictures and prints and mirrors, like secret wishes, like the studs in the walls, framework for next year's accomplishments.
