A child's peers and the parents of their peers are important, but no one is more important to a child than their own family, and you're so right to tell him that those just aren't the kind of people you want to surround yourself with any longer, no matter if you are gay or straight or somewhere in between. Your reaction means more to him in the long run than anything else, even though in the moment it might not seem so.
11 turning 12 is such an awkward age! And really, trying to kiss someone at that age and blurting out hey let's be boyfriends isn't really sexualized behavior at all, just social behavior.
