Hmmm.

What does one wear to a wedding? I'm going to a friend's wedding this summer and I've only ever been in the bridal party, so I have no clue what guests should wear :P Is this and this fine? I hate wearing short skirts if I can avoid it. I'd wear slacks, if that's acceptable ( Read more... )

Depending on the mood of the actual wedding, that can be too casual or just fine.

If it's at a church or somewhere fancy, wear something a notch more elegant. If it's like a small gathering, it should be fine.

What's your size, I can help recommend a dress.

My mother and sister used to go to the horse races at Saratoga a lot (because my sister went to college right in Saratoga Springs). I'll call them later and ask what they wore (and what those around them wore)!

As for weddings, it really depends a lot on the venue and stuff. (I've been to sundress-y beach weddings and NYC black-tie ballgown-y weddings...)
Can you ask your friend? I bet they wouldn't mind if you were just like, "Hey is this gonna be okay?" I wouldn't have minded if someone did that for my wedding! I'd hate for a guest to feel under dressed or over dressed or whatever.

Posting your story... maybe to tumblr? or here? ff dot net also has a sister site for original fiction (I THINK)

That would help, thanks!

Hmmm. I should be able to. And yeah, I'd feel all weird if I were over or under dressed xD

I think they do! I'mma wait until I get my grade, I THINK. Maybe. Possibly. Hi xD

My mom said everyone at Saratoga was really causal. Shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops, and hats because you have to sit in the sun all day, ha ha. Like any sporting event. The fancy box seats have dress codes but other than that...
that's how they did it in upstate NY anyway ha ha.

I hope you get a good grade, if you don't it's because your teacher just doesn't GET YOUR GENIUS.

As the others have said, it depends on the wedding. The time, the place, the theme, the level of formality. The invitation should help with that. But if it's the same wedding I'm going to this summer, I suspect it'd be just right.

The invitation was a nice magnet :D I'll have to ask them or someone going if they know.

:O It's not the same wedding D:

HI HOW ARE YOU! :D

Yeah, ask them. They'll know best. And, since it's some months until the wedding, they should have the time and concentration to spare.

Sorry about the confusion.

I am... the same as ever, I suppose. Posting more on FB these days. Which just feels really weird.

How are you?

Ah, the races... formal, yes, which usually means a dress and a hat for the ladies, but you could get away with slacks and a nice... lady shirt? Blouse? Blouse! A nice blouse!

Just don't wear shorts because, as Aussies, we will take the piss. (I know a bloke who went to the races in shorts. I wasn't there and I still partake in the taking of the piss. *G*)

Oooo! I can do slacks and a blouse. Not much of a hat girl, though xD

@__@ What does 'take the piss' mean? xD I must impress with my knowledge of colloquialism!

Ah, it's defined more eloquently here but essentially it means to tease. A lot. *g*
