Unsurprising but really cool:  New research suggests that climate variability has been a factor in political instability in Europe since the fall of the Roman Empire.

Uhm is that 'cool', by which you mean 'terrifying' or 'cool' by which you mean 'completely terrifying'?

'Cool' by which I mean 'completely terrifying, but if we want to argue that climate change is an issue of national security, this is pretty good backup'. The idea of it happening again on a global scale scares the bejeebus out of me, but the evidence is pretty neat.
