baekhyun and chanyeol are perched on a rooftop overlooking seoul. from this vantage point, they can see everything. they can see large concrete structures filled with workers stuck in grey cubicles. they see people scurrying on the streets like little ants, cars dashing back and forth like beetles, all of them only a minuscule part of a great picture. but to the commoner, this great picture is only something fed to them by their leaders. the commoners don't know what this big picture is. they only know what they need to know.
let's watch this city burn
the grey is only what is in front of them. to their backs, is the splendid seoul, the seoul everyone hears about, the seoul that is glitzy and sparkly and everything glamorous. this seoul is filled to the brim with people who are larger than life, their faces emblazoned across magazines in countries halfway across the world. this seoul is filled with gorgeous women and men who swan through high society with large smiles painted on their cold faces. this seoul is filled with golden eyeshadow and glimmering lipstick. this seoul is filled with false laughter and painful backstabbing. this seoul is not what it seems.
from the skylines on top of the world
baekhyun and chanyeol live in the between, they live in a place called the Gap. the Gap is where ruffians roam, where murder happens on a daily basis, where a switchblade is hidden in every sleeve. the Gap is where the gangs stake out their territory, where you fight for your food, where you fight for your life. it is where assassins lurk, it is where drugs are thrown around like candy, it is where the great and the humble come together to let loose. there are no rules in the Gap, only the urge to stay alive. the Gap is where most people show their true faces. the Gap is heaven and hell.
til' the skies bleed ashes
"but baek,"
there is a pause.
"don't you just want to pour gasoline all over this place, set a light to it..."
chanyeol turns to look at him.
baekhyun sees a beautiful orange phoenix in his eyes.
"...and watch it burn?"
baekhyun nods.
chanyeol smiles.
