A few HP questions...

First, go look at the new base posted at hp_stillness and tell me... why didn't Harry Potter win best photography?

Second, a question re- Draco Malfoy:

Poll DracoWhy the poll? Well, I've been hanging out at portkey.org recently, and there's a lot of Draco/Ginny fic there, and I just wondered... what's with Draco being one of the good guys? Apparently many people ( Read more... )

Regarding the poll...
I really, really, really would love to see Draco come over to Harry's side even if for selfish reasons (and as long as it didn't change his character too much), just because then I think we'd get more Draco and more potential for Draco shippage but since I don't have any say in what gets written, I honestly believe he will be an unredeemed little prat until the very end...and I'll love him anyway.

does Draco/Ginny automatically mean he's suddenly good?

I admit my knowlegde of the Potterverse is limited. However, I always thought that Draco/Ginny is a lot more possible than Draco/Hermione because of the whole "blood" issue. I don't think that's something Draco will ever overcome as I don't believe in goody-goody Draco. Just a thought though.

Well, yeah in the sense that this is not the 'dark' kind of Draco/Ginny. It's more fluffly and in most of them they're either dating or married because Draco jumped to the side of the good guys.

Ginny's determined and lively, she's adventurous and has a good spirit, plus, she was seriously influenced by the twins while growing up. ;)

I think people just forget that about her and think she'd jump into the arms of Draco Malfoy (but I guess that even ANOTHER story).

You know... Fanfiction: anything is possible.

That sounds... scary/horrible/terrifying.

About the adventurous, good spirit, not jumping in little Draco!Brat's arms part - I agree. I guess she grew up a lot in the meantime, but the second book showed she can be tricked and influenced. Maybe fanfic could take it from there...

Draco in the books is very one dimensional and I don't see that changing. I actually found the last book's depiction of him very disappointing. That said, fic is for all the other possibilities and in my world, Draco can redeem himself. :)

Yeah, anything can happen in fanfiction. I just wish they would provide a better explanation other than "Draco became their (Harry and his gang) friend after Voldemort was defeated)" :)

But, yes, I was looking for people's opinions, taking into consideration the books.

i'm with you on this. I prefer my evil characters to stay that way for the most part. I'll be looking forward to the lickable icon when you can show it

I don't see how Draco could switch sides. Well, perhaps simply out of need. He's a firm believer in the whole pure-blood thing and he's a real prat (taking the side of Umbridge during Order of the Phoenix proved that and sealed it for me!)

i would like to see draco redeemed if only for the sake of it not being 'your parents are evil so you must be too' or at least to have a little character doubt and turmoil.

plus i like my evil character to have at least a little moral ambiguity.

Yeah, that's good. That's kinda like the role Snape has and I really like that about him.
