Even better were the subsequent two phone calls (I had to change his ringtone to something that I could barely hear and turn down my phone) and the 3 am text saying, "Let me know if you like [sic] to do some good cocaine tonight?"

Today I'm creating a silent ringtone, and he gets it. Jerk.

When I was younger and more romantic, I used to think that loneliness created a self-reinforcing spiral where the desperation became a stink on you that other people could smell.

Now, I'm a little more pragmatic, and I think that loneliness creates a self-reinforcing spiral because desperation makes people act like jackasses.
